Ambassadors

Symbols of their sport, the Ambassadors for the SportAccord World Combat Games will be huge attractions for the Games.


Celebrities such as famous Jet-Li, kickboxing legend Don “the Dragon” Wilson, and Korean actor Jeoung Jun Ho as well as several Olympic Champions, among them Rulon Gardner (Wrestling) and Robert Van de Walle (Judo) will represent the 13 sports on the program during the Combat Games week.

They participate in various activities during the eight days of competitions and promote the Combat Games and the martial arts in general to the public.

Aikido: Lydia la Rivière-Zijdel

About: several titles in various martial arts; international consultant on gender, disability and sport; self-defence teacher for disabled persons; 2009 Dutch Coalition on Disability and Development Award

 

Judo: Robert Van de Walle

About: Olympic Champion at the 1980 Olympic Games; first Judoka to ever compete at five Olympic Games; several times silver and bronze world championship medalist

 

Ju-Jitsu : Bertrand Amoussou-Guenou

About: 3 times Ju-Jitsu world champion; World Games Champion; French and European champion in Judo

 

Karate: Tsugo Sakumoto

About: three times Kata- world champion

 

Kendo: Yoshimitsu Takeyasu

About: President of the International Kendo Federation (FIK); Still practicing Kendo at least three times as week, 90 year old Mr. Takeyasu is an iconic symbol of the 'life-time Kendo‘.

 

Kickboxing: Don Wilson

About: 79 professional matches won in Fullcontact Kickboxing; several world titles in various weight-classes; movie-actor and commentator for various martial art sports in the US

 

Muaythai: Gam Gavintra Photijak

About: elected Miss Thailand in 2007; Winner of 2008 Miss Universe Best Costume wearing a traditional Muaythai outfit and impressing millions of viewers with her Muaythai moves.

 

Sambo: Fedor Emelyanenko

About: Sambo champion; among the most famous current heavy-weight Martial Arts fighters in the world
